The voucher program is offered in 69 select counties located in central and southern Illinois. It provides funding to cover the cost of respite expenses. Eligibility is that the individual has a diagnosed intellectual or developmental disability and is not receiving other state or waiver respite funding.

The Emergency Respite Care (ERC) Program offers respite funding to support caregivers in a planned or unplanned emergency. This program helps caregivers who care for individuals of any age with any disability. Emergencies can include caregiver stress and burnout, caregiver illness, funeral attendance, etc. The ERC Program covers up to $500 towards the cost of supervision for the caregiver's loved one, then links caregivers to longer term respite support.

Voucher Respite Program

The in-home program is provided statewide except for Cook county. Eligible individuals need to have a diagnosed intellectual or developmental disability. In addition, they must not be receiving other state respite or waiver respite funding. The in-home program offers 180 hours of respite care in home per program year.
